OHSAA Harbin Computer Rating Engine

In Ohio high school football, computer ratings determine official playoff berths using the Harbin system. Teams earn Level 1 points for their own victories, plus Level 2 points for every win earned by defeated opponents.

Harbin Rating = (Level 1 Points + Level 2 Points) / Total Games

Built into my full-scale OhioHSFootball progressive web app, supporting real-time Friday night score syncs and bracket forecasts.

Projected Harbin Average
25.6000

Local UDP Telemetry & RF Receiver Feed

Real-time simulated feed showing local network UDP broadcasts from WeatherFlow Tempest devices, Raspberry Pi Pico W MicroPython drivers, and SmartThings Edge local hub drivers.

πŸ“Ÿ
Raspberry Pi Pico W

Listens for UDP multicast & transmits 433MHz signals locally.

πŸ“‘
SmartThings Edge Drivers (Lua)

Processes raw local sensor telemetry without relying on third-party cloud APIs.

Practical, Data-Driven & Local-First

I am an engineer driven by curiosity about how the physical world interacts with software. Whether decoding the micro-variations of barometric pressure in a summer storm, building real-time dashboards for thousands of high school sports fans, or automating severe weather alerts to protect homes, my goal is always the same: make complex data accessible, responsive, and reliable.

Rather than over-complicating stacks with unnecessary external dependencies, I value clean architecture, automated GitHub Actions pipelines, and local-first hardware drivers that continue operating even when the external internet flickers.

Local-First Telemetry

Prioritizing direct UDP sockets and local edge drivers for instant, cloud-independent response.

Open & Accessible Data

Ingesting and transforming public datasets into intuitive, accessible community tools.

"The most satisfying engineering challenges are the ones where hardware meets codeβ€”taking physical signals from the air, the field, or the home, and transforming them into real-time insights that people count on every day."
